Disciplining Kids- But Not Your Own
So- did you guess? I hope you did. James and I went out for an anniversary date last night, and it was wonderful.
I knew Kurt was a good man, but there was something about James- and the fact that he has kids- that just seemed right. But that doesn’t mean dating a single dad is without problems.
One of them is whether I can discipline James’ child. Is it my place to do that? And if so, how far can I go. How do I determine the rules?
It’s always been easier when I have a sleepover or play date with some of my childrens’ firends. Rules are easier to negotiate. But the amount of time I spend with James makes things much more complicated. For example, how do I negotiate their diets? My kids aren’t allowed candy before dinner, but James lets his have sweets if it’s a special day.
Whose rules do I follow?
And how do I bring it up with James? It’s not exactly the best pillow talk…
